Word of the Month (June)
Our word for this month is Listen
Definition:
1. To hearken; to give ear; to attend closely with a view to hear.
On the green bank I sat and listened long.
2. To obey; to yield to advice; to follow admonition. KJV definition
To Listen Means to Pay Close Attention. The first way the word Shema is used in the Bible: it means to really pay attention. It's the difference between merely hearing and intently listening: the way God listens to his people.
Scripture of the Month
Genesis 29:33
The Lord mended her broken heart with another son, and Leah said, "Because the LORD heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too" (Genesis 29:33). Again, Leah credits God—not Jacob — for providing this son and names the child Simeon, which means "listening."
