Sister Akera Street was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. From a young age, Akera had a deep passion and desire to serve the Lord, nurtured by her grandmother, who faithfully took her to church. During her childhood, she attended Alston Chapel United Holy Church in Pittsboro, North Carolina, under the leadership of Elder Carrie Bolton.
As she grew up, Akera actively participated in church life, singing in the Youth Choir, Mass Choir, and on the Praise & Worship team. Later, she joined White Rock United Church under the leadership of Elder David Henderson, where she worked closely with the youth, the choir, and the transportation ministry.
Akera is a people-loving individual, but her greatest love is for God. She is also a proud mother to her son, Bryson, who shares her love for music and the church. Whenever Akera is leading worship, you’ll often see Bryson nearby, sitting in a pew and supporting his mom with pride.
If you were to ask Akera, “What does it mean to you to be a believer and follower of Christ?” she would respond:
“Being a believer and follower of Christ hasn’t always been easy, but the privilege of being a living witness to share the goodness of Jesus every day brings my heart so much joy!”
Our servant leaders are dedicated to serving our community and helping others. With a deep understanding of biblical teachings and a passion for making a difference, they are committed to guiding and supporting individuals on their journey to faith.
